Privatized Veterans Nursing Home Abuse

Even our Veterans, for whom we should have the most care and concern regarding long term care, are not free from the specter of mistreatment and neglect. The State’s plan to privatize a Veterans Home in Grand Rapids in an attempt to save money appears to have backfired, as an audit demonstrated there was severe understaffing, and that many issues, including abuse, were not properly reported to required authorities. Sadly, these issues are true of many long term care facilities, but, there are ways to get compensation for a loved one who has been abused or neglected in a nursing home or long term care facility.
