Apr 22 | 2021  by

For the past decade or so, the state of Michigan and the entire country have been in the grips of an opioid epidemic. Unfortunately, countless individuals in their lifetime will fall under the influence of controlled substances. But we feel if you know the consequences, you are less likely to commit them.

Listed below are the maximum penalties associated with illegal activities involving heroin. All offenses that involve the use of a controlled substance are classified as misdemeanors. How We Can Help

As you can see, the maximum penalties associated with heroin are quite severe. You can help yourself in this situation by contacting an experienced Michigan drug crime attorney like Terry Priest.

An attorney like Terry Priest can put you in a position before the court that illustrates improvement on your part. In many cases, the first step is enrolling you in any type of substance abuse counseling, therapy, or support group you may require. This shows the court that you are taking the charge seriously and are truly remorseful for it occurring.

Always remember, just because you have been charged with a drug crime does not mean all hope is lost. The ultimate goal is to keep you out of prison, jail, and keeping the charge off your record depending on the circumstances of your case.
