Identilock is a device that aims to prevent gun misuse, while limiting the time necessary for owners to discharge the weapon in an emergency. The 12 ounce device that is about the size of a wallet is a trigger guard intended for handguns. By placing your finger on the touch pad, the Identilock will unlock immediately giving users immediate access while prohibiting unauthorized users from firing the weapon.

The Identilock technology was invented by Omer Kiyani after he suffered a devastating injury as a teenager. Kiyani was shot in the face with an unsecure firearm and continues to struggle with the trauma from the incident. Since Kiyani knows of the importance of firearms, especially in home defense, he was determined to find a solution to the other side of firearm ownership; accidents.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 62 children aged one to fourteen were killed in firearm accidents in the United States, adding to the total of 785 child deaths the previous decade.

The Identilock, set to be sold at Cabela’s next month, will provide gun owners with practicality, speed, safety, and reliability. The item will retail at around $239.
