DTE Energy recently announced the purchase of three new wind parks in Michigan. These wind parks will help lower carbon emissions from the utility’s generation portfolio. Annually, the wind parks are expected to offset nearly 790,000 tons of carbon emissions, and all wind parks are expected to be in operation by next year.

The Michigan Public Service Commission recently approved DTE’s purchase of the wind parks on July 18th. Two of the parks will be located in Isabella County, in mid-Michigan, and the third will be in Delta County, located in the Upper Peninsula.

The wind parks are expected to increase DTE Energy’s renewable portfolio by almost 50%, driving the company towards its carbon reduction goal of 50% by 2030 and 80% by 2040.
